About Volda municipality

Welcome to Volda! Volda is a town and a municipality in the southwestern part of Møre and Romsdal county.

The administration center in Volda is located in the street Stormyra, just a quick walk from the ferry pier in the town centre. 

In the municipality there are approximately 11.000 inhabitants.

As of January 1st 2020 Volda is a brand new municipality as a result of a Governmental regional restructing process. The municipality is a merge between two former municipality

Government

The municipality council, Volda kommunestyre, is the highest governing body in Volda.

The mayor is the leader of Volda kommunestyre, and is elected for four years of the time.

Last election was in 2019, and Sølvi Dimmen (Center Party) was elected as the mayor. Ms Dimmen will remain in office until a new local election is held in the autumn of 2023.

Public services

Volda Municipality are responsible for a range of publis services to the inhabitants.

This could be for example Day Care facilities, Child welfare, Primary and Secondary schools, Public Libraries, Primary health care, care for the elderly and disabled, Fire Departments, harbours, municipal roads, water supply, sewerage, garbage collection and disposal, and organisation of land use within the municipality.
